Travel Distance

You might have a great job in Toronto that you've been working towards for your entire professional career. It could be as a doctor at Princess Margaret or you could have brought your business resume Vancouver based to Bay Street. But that doesn't mean that you're making the money to live in the same area. Instead of cramming themselves into smaller condos and townhouses along Bloor or Yonge many people choose to live much more spaciously in one of the bedroom communities around the city. But this means that you're going to have some distance to travel when it comes to getting from one of the homes for sale in Vaughan, for example, into the city every day. Here are some tips for dealing with your commute.

Don't spend every day sitting in traffic behind the wheel. While you may enjoy driving, spending a couple of hours in the car five days a week will take their toll on anyone. So let someone else do the driving every once in a while. Take a couple of days a week and hop onto the nearest GO Train or carpool with someone else living in your area. This will keep you from staring at the back of the same Oakville airport limo along the 401 for forty-five minutes as you inch towards home.

Another option to reduce the amount of time you're driving is to take the car part of the way and bike or take public transportation through the rest of the city. Not only is this a great way to get some exercise in and break up your morning commute but it's also a little way to help the planet.

When you're looking at potential homes you should definitely be thinking about your travel time to work. This is an aspect of your life that is hopefully quite consistent and you want to make sure that you're seeing that it can cause a lot of stress and grief if it's not considered early on. You may find that while you like the homes being shown to you by a Richmond Hill real estate agent, it is worth paying a little more or getting a little less for an easier commute from Burlington.

Be as organized as possible when it comes to all of the different places that you have to go. While it can be a little tricky to coordinate your son's soccer game with your daughter's piano class and your trip to the grocery store sometimes it can be done with just a bit of extra effort. If you're looking for a new service check out a Pickering or Rosedale blog to see what is available close to home or work. You may discover a new favorite spot that keeps you from running all over town.
