The GTA

The term Golden Horseshoe Region was first coined in the mid 1990s, and referred to a very specific region of Canada. Today, that region has been greatly expanded. The idea behind this area is that it contains the largest concentration of people to be found in the country, with a growth rate much higher than can be found anywhere else. A part of the addition was the Greater Toronto Area.

In every horseshoe there is one nail that really makes the shoe stick to the hoof of the horse, in the same way a key stone will hold up a structure. Although the Golden Horseshoe region existed before the inclusion of the GTA in 2001, it can be said the expansion to include the 5 million plus people in this area really nailed the concept of what the Golden Horseshoe was all about. In fact, one could say that adding all that Toronto real estate, from Scarborough homes for sale to Etobicoke condos really put the Golden in the Horseshoe.

The reason we posit this theory is that when it comes to economic activity, there is no place in the country like Toronto. It is the hub of the financial industry across the country, with an economy so diverse it can weather any economic storm. As with the rest of the Golden Horseshoe area, Toronto is a well-known place of industry, including development, manufacturing, and shipping. There are companies selling everything from aquarium test kits refill candles within the city's borders.

When we talk about the Greater Toronto Area, just what places are we talking about? Well, for starters there are the ultra-cosmopolitan, cutting-edge condos and lofts for sale in Toronto's downtown. It is hear where the financial heartbeat of Canada can be found, along with the most progressive developments in almost any area you can think of. Just look at the skyline of the condominiums on Toronto's waterfront and you are sure to be impressed.

The Greater Toronto Area contains several districts and cities beyond just Toronto itself. The region has been divided up into several regional municipalities, including Halton, Peel, York and Whitby real estate. The different communities in this area of over five million people include North York, Etobicoke, and Scarborough. Homes in the area benefit from their proximity to the mega city centre.

There is a lot to talk about, as the GTA is probably the most diverse section of the country and stands right up there with the busiest regions in North America. Real estate, the economy, local cultures, educational opportunities, and so on, all make up subject matter for the articles we will be publishing on the GTA. Just look at the skyline to see Fashion House condos and visit uptown for Leslieville homes.

Whether you are looking to move to the area, maybe to a Liberty Village condo or are just curious about the big population centres that contribute so much to the way we live as Canadians, we think you will find the information we publish here helpful. Take a look and see what it is about the GTA within the Greater Golden Horseshoe that has proved so magnetic for people and businesses alike.
