Brampton

While all the cities of the Golden Horseshoe region in Ontario have a lot going for them in terms of economy, perhaps in none is the future as bright as it is in Brampton. Property in the city is guaranteed to be at a premium for a long time to come, as all of the information indicates that this already well established city is only going to improve with time. Let's take a look at the different factors that point towards Brampton's success.

Coming in after Toronto and Mississauga, Brampton is the third largest city in the Greater Toronto Area. It is also the seat of the Peel region, which means that all organization of the region makes its way to this hub city. Being so close to the other major cities in the area, many people are drawn to Brampton for the relatively low real estate prices the city has to offer (despite the fact that it currently includes over 430,000 citizens and is still growing!). Mississauga townhouses, for example, are generally $15,000 more than equivalent properties in Brampton. This price discrepancy is unlikely to change anywhere in the near future!

The more reasonable prices of real estate mean that many younger people are making Brampton their home. In fact, with a median age of just under 34, Brampton is the youngest city in the Greater Toronto Area. This adds to the vitality of the city and bodes well for years to come, as former Toronto residents leave their St. Lawrence Market condos in favour of more family friendly Brampton homes.

The real estate picture is not all that is attracting young people and others to the city of Brampton. The condos in Brampton, just like the ones in Toronto, tend to appeal to the young urban professional, who can find a lot of employment opportunity in the city. As with other centres in the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the city is focused on attracting industry and other employment opportunities to the area in order to guarantee prosperity. Major companies with headquarters in Brampton include Bacardi, Loblaw, Brita, and HBC/Zellers.

When it comes to entertainment opportunities Brampton is developing some of the most unique to be found in the southern Ontario area. Residents are tempted from their Brampton condominiums on weekend evenings in part by the newly renovated Rose Theatre. The Theatre was renovated in 2006, and today is a major hub for those who enjoy several different forms of performing arts. In fact, the theatre surpassed its five year attendance goal in just its first year of operation. That kind of record meant that the surrounding property became quite desirable for hospitality businesses, and the section is now a major hot spot for Brampton's elite.

A strong economic base, a reasonable real estate market, a young population, and all the recreational opportunities of a large city all combine to ensure the success of Brampton for years to come.
