Let's face it; a lot of the appeal of Aurora lies in its small town,
close to a big city nature. There are under 50,000 residents in total who call
Aurora home, and the area is bordered by some of the most unique environmental
features that can be found anywhere in the province of Ontario. It's a
little bit out of the way as far as major transportation arteries (airport terminals,
harbours, railway terminals, and so on). All of these factors combined mean
that Aurora is not what you would call an industrial giant in the southern Ontario
area. In fact, many of the residents of the town commute to nearby cities, where
they can find work in everything from law offices to factories which produce
basket strainers.
So, Aurora is not a place where you can expect to find industrial production
occurring on a large scale. However, for those interested in the industrial
aspects of Aurora, you can expect to find a few smaller businesses categorized
on the industrial level. Many of these businesses are located on the Industrial
Parkway, in the southern portion of the town and well away from many of the
residential zones of the town. Here is where you will find all the businesses
of Aurora which call for waste water grit removal and other industry specific
specialty services.
Which industries will you find along the Industrial Parkway? Well, as far as
manufacturing, there is Rolen Industries, Inc and Motiontech Industrial. Both
businesses manufacture parts for the construction and heavy duty industries.
Rolen specializes in different types of valve production, while you will find
products such as a robotic davit arm in production at Motiontech.
You can also find businesses in Aurora for solutions to anything electronic.
Design and manufacturing are reserved for the nearby cities and towns, but Aurora
has at least two retail companies serving the needs of businesses and other
industries in the immediate vicinity of Aurora. Harwell Electric supply and
North York Heating and Plumbing supplies can both be found within the industrial
zone of the town of Aurora.
Much of the rest of the industry which goes on in Aurora is located in the
areas bordering on Yonge Street, where those businesses can be conveniently
accessed by clients coming from other parts of Ontario. Most of these industries
operate on a smaller scale, with very little in the way of homegrown production.
You'll find warehouses to purchase everything from aquarium test kits
and other pet supplies to trophy engraving and even metal stamping.
All in all, it's safe to say that Aurora is not a town one would call
an industrial powerhouse. It is safe to say that this is the way residents prefer
it, as the major industrial zones of southern Ontario can easily be reached
from this conveniently located town. It is a location with growth potential that would impress even Dennis Gartman.
